Bosch 1/2” Corded Drills Specifications

In their current catalog for 1/2” chuck corded drills Bosch offers 6 different drills; 4 high speed models, and 2 high torque models. The main difference is that high speed drills are better for drilling and high torque models have lower rpm’s which is better for driving screws and fasteners.

All 6 of the drills however share some similar features, so in order to save myself some time here is a list of the features you can find on all of the Bosch corded drills.

Every Bosch corded drill has a heavy duty keyed chuck so your bit stays locked into place during use. They are also equipped with variable speeds, soft grip triggers, and reversing switches to give you more control when drilling for different jobs. The Bosch drills are equipped with an easy grip ergonomic handle and a two finger trigger and lock on button for easy operation. For the professional or tech heads out there you probably will be glad to hear that the drills are made with precision cut steel gears and have a magnesium front housing to provide increased durability and more control on tough jobs.

The main difference in the drills is power. The 6 different models range in amps starting at 5.2 amps for the 1/2″ Drill with Dual Torque Ranges, Model 1169VSR, to 8.0 amps equipped on 3 of the high speed and high torque Bosch 1/2” corded drills.

Bosch 3/8” Corded Drills Specifications

The 3/8” drills are a little more diverse than the 1/2” drill as each one seems to have a more independent set of specs; so be prepared for a little bit more detailed and longer read in this section.

Again I will start with the similarities with each drill in order to save some time as nobody wants to read the same material over and over again. All of the Bosch 3/8” corded drills share a similar handle design that is ergonomic, has a soft grip trigger and is equipped with a reversing switch to offer optimal control over your job. All models have the two finger design and lock on switch to make operation simplistic, but that is where the similarities really end.

The Bosch corded drills that come with a 3/8” chuck differentiate more from the 1/2” chuck drills in that they are more focused on high torque rather that high speed. Bosch offers 4 high torque drills ranging from 6.5 amps to 7.5 amps, 1 high speeds drills with 7.5 amps that goes up to 2500 rpm, 1 standard drill with 5.5 amps, and a right angle drill that has a low profile & a small chuck offset to make drilling in tight space simple. Another difference is that the 3/8” corded drills don’t all shared the similar keyed chuck as both the standard and high speed models are designed with a key less chuck that is easy to replace with one hand, and some models aren’t made with the precision cut gears or magnesium housing that was found on all of the 1/2” models.

No matter what the differences though I have found through trial of my own and word of mouth that Bosch corded drills are all good enough to sufficiently do the job you need to and that you really need to try and them out to see which is right for your application.
