Lightweight Cordless Drills

When purchasing a drill one of the key decisions you have to make is whether you want a lightweight or heavier duty drill. In fact you probably already have an idea of the size and power you want in your mind. Most of the time you will find that the heavy duty drills are corded because they require more power, where as the smaller lightweight drills will be cordless.

When assessing whether to buy a lightweight cordless drill you must consider these things:

  • Will you be using the drill for prolonged periods of time?
  • Will you be drilling into very hard materials?

If you answered the above questions with a yes then it may be wise to buy a corded drill which can handle more intensive jobs that the cordless alternative. However if you find yourself constantly using your drill for small jobs in a multitude of different positions then a cordless drill is definitely a good choice.

So what are the advantages of a cordless drill you may be asking, here are just a few:

Lightweight - The weight of cordless drills is a huge advantage, it makes them easier to carry to places, easier to handle and use, and ultimaletly a much more enjoyable tool to use.

Mains Supply not needed - Ever been outside and wanting to drill something only to find a nearby plug socket? Maybe you don’t want to go through all the hassle of the extention cable, or fitting a plug socket to your shed. In this case the cordless drill is ideal.

No Wires - The lack of wires required (due to the battery mentioned above) allows you to move around and reach into awkward areas without worrying about tangling or stretching wires.

Which Lightweight Cordless Drill should I buy?

This is a question that we are often asked at Drill Info. To be honest you should buy a drill that matches your requirements rather than one someone recommends. Always try to stay with brand names and you should be fine.
